Celebrity designer Jimmy Choo officiates at Malaysian segment of Thai Silk Fashion Expo

Bangkok – Celebrity Malaysian fashion designer Datuk Jimmy Choo was a Guest of Honour at the Malaysian segment of the Thai Silk International Fashion Week held at the Siam Paragon Hall in Bangkok between December 7-11, 2022

International fashion designers from more than 60 nations participated in the 25 shows held to celebrate a collection of traditional and contemporary outfits made up entirely of Thai silk fabrics. Datuk Choo was also one of the judges in the design competition held alongside. The Malaysian fashion show featured the works of Designers Wan and Mary.

Organised by the Prime Minister’s Office, together with the Association of Thai Culture and Promotions, the event honours the dedication and commitment by Her Majesty Queen Sirikit, the Queen Mother, to the global promotion of Thai silk. This year marked the HM the Queen Mother’s 90th birth anniversary.

The show also featured the 1st International Thai Silk Design Contest, which allowed contestants to showcase their creativity in designing contemporary Thai silk wear, as well as silk product exhibitions from over 70 provinces across Thailand.

Thai Silk Fashion Week provides a unique opportunity to promote cross-cultural exchanges and enhance multilateral relationships with various countries through the celebration of Thai silk. It also encourages younger generations to treasure Thai traditions, culture and heritage.
