The San Diego International Film Festival just announced in addition to its two scheduled screenings; “Breaking Their Silence” was selected as their Focus on Impact program. It brings high school students together from all over the city to watch one film selected from all films playing the festival this year. “We feel that Breaking Their Silence is a great social impact film for the students” said Dineo Maine of the San Diego Film Festival. https://sdfilmfest.com/focus-on-impact-student-day-friday-oct-18/

“My only intention in making this film was to better understand the poaching crisis through the unique angle of the female lens and share what I learned with a global audience concerned about our disappearing wildlife. The work these courageous and inspirational women are accomplishing in Africa and Asia while risking their lives protecting these beautiful creatures from further extinction is astounding and inspirational. All of this attention on our film, just further amplifies their messaging and I couldn’t be more excited for them or for us!” said the film’s Director, Producer and Writer, Kerry David.

Kerry has been invited by TedX Charlottesville to speak at their annual event in November about her experience as a female Director, Producer and Writer documenting the inspirational women in “Breaking Their Silence: Women on the Frontline of the Poaching War”.

On October 11th, 2019, “Breaking Their Silence” was selected to kick off an important event hosted by “Vermont for Wildlife” in support of their proposed bill to ban the sale and import of 14 species most threatened by commercial trade—elephants, rhinoceros, giraffe, tigers, lions, leopards, cheetahs, pangolins, marine turtles, sharks, hippos, jaguars, whales, and rays. If successful it brings to end an 8 year battle making Vermont the 11th state to do so behind, CA, NJ, HI, OR, NH, MN, NY, IL, NV and WA.
