Chile projects tourism to hit new record in 2017

SANTIAGO DE CHILE, Sept 28 (NNN-PRENSA LATINA)–The Chilean Tourism industry is on the verge of meeting its goals for 2017, with record figures after the arrival this year of more than 6.4 million tourists, official sources confirmed today.

Minister of Economy and Tourism Jorge Rodriguez Grossi praised the promotional work by Chile in the current Government and the significant progress to boost the sector.

On the occasion of the World Tourism Day, Rodriguez Grossi asserted that Chile would have more than six million and a half of foreign tourists in 2017 and has predicted an exceptional season, starting in December.

With the beginning of summer from December to March, 2018, the South American nation expects to reach the figure of 3,463,557 foreign tourists, which means 21.4 percent more than in the same period last year.

Chilean Tourism Undersecretary Javiera Morales said that ‘today, on the World Tourism Day, we knew that Chile had been nominated again to the World Travel Awards as the best adventure tourism destination in the world.’
