Time for a new tourism roadmap: Imtiaz Muqbil to speak on ASEAN, Islamic Tourism and Sustainability topics

Imtiaz Muqbil, Executive Editor of Travel Impact Newswire, will be speaking on a diverse range of subjects at a number of regional travel industry events in May and June.

Travel & tourism is entering a new era. The “operating environment” is no longer the same as it was at the turn of the millennium. Clearly, not everything has gone according to plan. Although travel & tourism has become too big to fail at a global level, it is fraught with risks and uncertainty at regional and local levels.

With all the sloganeering about “growth” and “resilience” now reduced to meaningless clichés, it’s time to craft a new roadmap to ensure that travel & tourism  delivers on what is clearly evolving into a whole new set of goals.

Having followed the ups and downs of global travel & tourism since 1981, Imtiaz Muqbil, one of the Asia-Pacific region’s longest serving travel trade journalists, will be putting some new ideas on the table to do exactly that.

Here is the roster of events at which he is scheduled to speak:

Siam Society lecture May 16

2017 SUBIC Ecotourism Festival May 29 – June 1: Topic: “Can There Ever Be Sustainability Without Spirituality?”

Moderator of the Keynote Panel at the Mekong Tourism Forum 2017 on the theme “Prosper with Purpose”

Speaker at the World Islamic Tourism Conference. Topic: Countering Negative Perception of Muslims and Islamic Tourism Through Traditional and New Media

4 July Resinar at PATA Engagement Hub on Promoting Thailand as a Muslim-Friendly Destination. Topic: Thai-Islamic Relations, Travel Trends and Potential Source Markets
