Translator of Quran receives Germany’s Rumi award

Tehran, Iran, 14 February 2015, (IRNA News) – A Quranic researcher and translator of the Quran from Afghanistan received the Rumi Award for 2015 Book of the Year in Islamic Studies in German language.

According to the Islamic Culture and Relations Organization, the Foundation for Islamic Studies in Germany granted the award to Ahmad Milad Karimi in a ceremony held in the auditorium of the University of Münster.

Karimi is a professor of philosophy, mysticism and theology at the University of Münster.

He was awarded the prize for his outstanding research in the field of Islamic studies in German speaking countries, especially his new book titled ‘Surrender’, which is a new attempt at a systematic Islamic theology.

Addressing the event, Iranian cultural attaché in Germany Mehdi Imanipour described the award as an opportunity for supporting pure Islamic thought.

He further highlighted the role of religions in today’s world and said promotion of a comprehensive reading of religions is necessary and inevitable.

The Award aims to support new research and innovation in comprehensive, moderate and rational readings in the field of Islamic Studies in German language. By granting the award, the foundation seeks to both observe the conducted research and written books and gain a close familiarity with related researchers as well as to open a new path for younger researchers in the field of Islamic Studies in German speaking countries.
