Muslim center in Australia vandalized beyond recognition, Quran copies desecrated

Tehran, Feb 14, IRNA – Vandals went on a vicious rampage overnight at a Muslim center in Preston, a suburb of Melbourne, Australia.

The damage to the center was extensive and devastating, similar to the result of an explosion, IQNA reported. The walls have been plastered with obscene graffiti. Windows and doors in the center have been smashed and broken. Every piece of furniture and every copy of the Quran has been destroyed.

The damage is estimated to be around $200,000.

The center distributes Islamic literature to schools in the area. It also holds seminars for young Muslims.

The center’s director said he hadn’t been inside the building since late last year until he arrived there to find that it had been decimated.

He stated he doesn’t know who is responsible for the shocking attacks and why the center was targeted.

‘I believe it could be politically, that’s only could be young kids, but the source could be political,” he stated.

Police have taken fingerprints from the scene and investigations are continuing.
