The League for Innovation in the Community College trends surveys are designed to both catalyze and inform educators who are ready to take a breath and take a look at the road ahead for community colleges. For almost two decades, these trends surveys have been used by boards of trustees, administrative teams, faculty senates, staff councils, student leadership groups, community forums, legislative retreats, and even business and industry roundtables to help position and prepare local community colleges using an emerging frame of issues.
This report, which is available for purchase or as a free download, is the sixth installment of the League’s trends research and comes at a time of significant shift in the community college focus from policies and practices aimed at maximizing access and enrollment to those maximizing access and completion. In this publication, the authors explore seven sets of key trends informed by presidential survey results: access and completion; learning outcomes; learning models; structural issues and incentives; working the regional educational ecosystems; data and analytics; and future-ready work.
