Manila — The Philippines posted an exponential 300 percent growth year on year for travelers using the Airbnb platform, a website for people to rent out lodging, making it the fastest growing market in the ASEAN region.

Jia Jih Chai, Airbnb managing director for Southeast Asia and India, told reporters in an interview at the recent Slingshot MNL, the official start-up event of APEC Philippines 2015, that there are over 1,000 listing of spaces or accommodation facilities for rent in the Philippines on its website. Majority of these sites are located in Manila. Other popular destinations in the country include Tagaytay, Baguio, Boracay, Cebu and Davao.

Airbnb has been in the country for only two years. According to Chai, hospitality and friendliness of Filipinos have made the Philippines in demand among travelers, who are on short five-day stay to a month.
