Iran Looks Forward to Stepping up Relations with ASEAN

Jakarta, 24 July 2015. ASEAN Secretariat News – Iran will intensify its relations and cooperation with ASEAN as well as with ASEAN Member States, according to the country’s new Ambassador to ASEAN, Valiollah Mohammadi Nasrabadi. Ambassador Nasrabadi presented his Letter of Credence to Secretary-General of ASEAN, H.E. Le Luong Minh on 23 July.

Iran Looks Forward to Stepping up Relations with ASEAN

Ambassador Nasrabadi said that based on the long standing and historical ties with the countries of Southeast Asia, Iran will work towards enhancing its relations and cooperation with ASEAN, particularly in the fields of economic, trade, culture, science & technology and education. He added that Iran also attaches high importance to region-to-region cooperation and would like to promote greater collaboration between ASEAN and the Economic Cooperation Organisation.

Secretary-General Minh updated Ambassador Nasrabadi on the progress of ASEAN Community building and informed him that ASEAN is making steady progress towards building an integrated, well connected, and people-oriented ASEAN Community by the end of this year.

Besides his role as Iran’s envoy to ASEAN, Ambassador Nasrabadi is currently the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of his country to Indonesia with residence in Jakarta.
