Palestinian hotels report 33% drop in guests in Jan-March 2015

RAMALLAH, May 27, 2015 (WAFA) – The number of hotel guests in the first quarter of 2015 was 33% lower than in the first quarter of 2014 and 35% lower than in the previous quarter, said a Palestinian Central Bureau of Statistics (PCBS) press release on Wednesday.

PCBS said that, during the first quarter of 2015, 99,689 guests stayed in hotels in the West Bank; 35% were from European Union countries and 10% were Palestinians.

It said that, “During the first quarter 2015, the number of guest nights in the West Bank hotels reached 192,929; of which 04% were from European Union countries, 21% were Palestinians, and 22% were from the United States and Canada.”

During the first quarter of 2015, there were 3,490 hotel workers; 2,359 males and 716 females, said the report.

The room occupancy rate in the West Bank was 20% in the first quarter of 2015.

Room occupancy during the first quarter of 2015 was 14% lower than first quarter of 2014 and 19% lower than in the previous quarter, it said.
