KUWAIT, April 12 (NNN-KUNA) — Kuwait tops the world in terms of number of obese people, a health official said Saturday, and noted percentage of people being obese could reach 73.

Assistant Undersecretary for Technical Affairs Dr. Qais Al-Duwairi warned against threats posed by heart and brain diseases, and artery blockage which have become very common “and have negative impacts on the society.”

Al-Duwairi made the remarks on behalf of Health Minister Dr. Ali Al-Obaidi at the launch of an awareness campaign in Mubarak Al-Kabeer Hospital about whether “Your Heart and Mind are safe or in danger?”

He underlined importance of early detection of these diseases in order to prevent their deterioration.
