China calls for better commercial services in overseas embassies

(Xinhua) BEIJING, March 2 — Senior Chinese leaders has urged diplomats in charge of commercial affairs to greatly contribute to economic ties between China and foreign countries they station. A four-day national conference on improving economic and commercial counseling services in foreign countries concluded on Monday, during which Vice Premier Wang Yang held discussions with participants.

Diplomats in charge of commercial affairs in embassies and consulates should work hard to facilitate Chinese enterprises’ “go abroad” drive, and safeguard the country’s overseas investment, according to the meeting. They were also urged to better manage China’s foreign aids and actively participate in the reshuffle of global governance and revision of commercial rules to protect China’s interests while promoting common development.
