“Remarkable Indonesia” showcase in Bangkok highlights culture, builds ASEAN integration
Bangkok – A “Remarkable Indonesia Showcase 2014” was held from 8 to 11 December 2014 at Central Court, Central World in downtown Bangkok.
At the official opening ceremony on 9 December. Indonesian Ambassador to Thailand, Mr Lutfi Rauf called it an “iconic event that showcases a variety of fashion products, cultural performances and food and beverage products from Indonesia.” More than 1,000 Thai buyers were expected to attend the event. The range of products covered Batik, Songket, modern design apparels, leather snake products, jewelry, handicraft, instant noodles and instant coffee.
Altogether 16 Indonesian exhibitors participated, viz., 8Eri, Jii by Gloria Agatha, Monday to Sunday, Batik Chic (Jakarta Fashion Week Designers), Naputo Bali, Kunstantina, Wiwieks Collections, I’ans, Amalia Accessories, Boby Lesmana Silver, Ani Moenda, Zainal Songket, Mulee Bali, Trade Industry and Cooperative Board of Provincial Government of Bandung City, Indomie and Indocafe.
The opening ceremony featured traditional dance performances from the Indonesia School of Bangkok and staff of Indonesian Embassy as well as Palembang Dancers. The fashion show introduced Indonesian traditional and modern Batik, songket and modern design apparels from well-known designers. Lucky draws from Garuda Indonesia, Thai Lion Air, as well as from exhibiting companies were presented.
This is the third such event organised by the Indonesian embassy in Bangkok under Ambassador Lutfi. A dance performance was held at the Siam Society two years ago and another cultural event at the National Theatre earlier this year. The events are designed to promote the socio-cultural integration of ASEAN and enhance understanding between the people of Thailand and Indonesia.
