Head priest of Badrinath temple arrested for ‘molestation’ – Hindustan Times

The head priest of the Badrinath temple Keshawan Namboodiri has been arrested for wrongful confinement and outraging the modesty of a woman. Namboodiri has been suspended by the shrine’s administration after he was produced at a court and sent to a fortnight’s judicial custody on Tuesday.

A 28-year-old woman has alleged that she was molested by the head priest of the Badrinath Temple, a prominent Hindu shrine in Uttarakhand, and his cousin at a south Delhi hotel on Monday.

The complainant, a resident of south Delhi, is in the family way and claimed that the accused 38-year-old priest, officially designated as ‘Rawal’ Keshawan Namboodiri and his relative, Vishnu Prakash, 33, were under the influence of alcohol when they turned on her.

They were arrested for wrongful confinement and outraging the modesty of a woman.
