U.S. Housewares Company Forecasts Kitchen Trends For 2013

=========

ROSEMONT, Ill., March 2, 2013 /PRNewswire/ — World Kitchen, which claims to be America’s leading housewares company, forecasts kitchen and dinner table trends as the 2013 International Home and Housewares Show commences today in Chicago.  Highlighting style and functionality, the family of World Kitchen brands delivers on-trend solutions to consumers this year.

“A new year brings new trends in kitchen design and what’s on the table,” said Kris Malkoski, president, North America, World Kitchen. “These trends influence what we see in-store, on-table and online. Our brands pride themselves on offering high-quality products that are both stylish and innovative so our customers can be confident they are creating great food with the right tools.”

Waste Not, Want Not

The National Resource Defense Council estimates 40 percent of all food in the United States goes uneaten[i], averaging nearly 20 pounds per person each month wasted. The Pyrex brand’s new Premium Glass Lids™ storage system can help home cooks decrease waste with an easy means to take food from fridge to oven to table and even to store leftovers. The clear glass and silicone lids make each container 100 percent air tight, leak proof and oven and microwave safe.

Snack Attack

According to the NPD Group, morning snacking has grown the most among eating occasions throughout the past decade[ii]. More than half of Americans currently snack two to three times a day. In 2013, work schedules remain hectic with mini-meals and snacking[iii] potentially increasing the variety of foods eaten as well as a shift in portion sizes.  Delivering versatility and convenience, Snapware® Total Solution™ storage products feature easy-to-open, four-latch, air-tight and leak-proof lids that can fit plastic or  glass vessels, perfect for use at home or on the go.

Handmade and Homemade

A return to the kitchen and artisanal offerings is stronger than ever with renowned chefs predicting Americans will eat more homemade foods in 2013[iv].  As natural flavors take precedence over processed foods, Chicago Cutlery® products make prepping approachable with the ProHold™ line. The innovative knife handles guide your hand to the correct position for cutting, improving knife skills and decreasing prep time.

Clean Lines and Design are Here to Stay

2013 marks a return to clean lines and elegant yet subtle colors as a simple means to keep homes on trend. The CorningWare® French White® line was recently refreshed to deliver a contemporary version of its iconic design for every baking occasion. Capitalizing on design and functionality trends, the refreshed line boasts handles that provide improved, secure handling from oven to table, versatile and nestable shapes and sizes for compact storage and a new, quiet-close cover.

Additionally, CorningWare offers an artisanal-inspired collection designed with gently flared edges and easy-grip handles to ensure easy cleaning and handling. A nod to today’s modern tastes, the Etch® line combines the familiarity of CorningWare bakeware with modern colors including Eggplant, Grass, Brick, Sand and White Linen.

Modern, Sleek Lines Stand Out

Contemporary design will come to the forefront this year as homeowners move away from traditional kitchen designs[v] and towards contemporary lines. Going beyond cabinets and flooring, hosts can find clean lines and refined designs in both the CorningWare® French White® line and various Corelle brand offerings.
