Indians, I.T. Professionals Top U.S. H1B Visa Profiles for 2012

=========

New York, NY (PRWEB) March 13, 2012 — Indian citizens and Information Technology Myvisajobs.com, a leading employment website for immigrants, has released its 7th Annual H1B Visa and Employment-based Green Card reports. The H1B Visa reports were created based on an analysis of 358,857 Labor Condition Applications (LCA) filed by 66,970 U.S. employers during fiscal year 2011. The employment-based green card reports were created based on 73,207 permanent labor certifications (LC) reviewed and decided upon by the Department of Labor during the same period.

All of the H1B visa and employment-based green card reports are available for free on http://www.myvisajobs.com/Reports/, which also includes visa sponsorship profiles of 538,571 U.S. employers who have filed labor certifications for temporary or permanent work visas since 2001.

The H1B visa is a non-immigrant visa in the United States under the Immigration and Nationality Act. It allows U.S. employers to temporarily employ foreign workers in specialty occupations. When a US employer wishes to hire a foreign worker on a permanent basis, it has to file a labor certification (LC) to prove that there are no qualified U.S. workers for the position being offered.

The average salary of a certified LCA was $79,370. Tata Consultancy Services, Microsoft and IBM filed the largest number of LCA in 2011. The average salary of a certified LC was $92,935. Microsoft, Cognizant Technology Solutions, and Cisco are the top three green card sponsors.

“Both the H1B Visa program and labor certification process are highly controversial, especially when the unemployment rate is still high. Keeping the data public and the process transparent are critical for protecting the interests of American workers and foreign workers,” explains Bill Zhao, the founder and CEO of myvisajobs.com.

“The job market is recovering, and U.S. employers hired more foreign workers in fiscal year 2011, than they did in 2010,” Zhao added. “However, the total number of labor certifications filed for green card purposes was 10 percent less than the 2010 number. In fiscal year 2011, 81,412 labor certifications were filed.”

Another troubling trend that the company noted is the increase in the denial rate. Roughly 14.1 percent of the labor certifications filed in 2011 was denied, representing a 37 percent increase over the 2010 number. In fiscal year 2010, only 10.3 percent were denied.
