A Walking Tour through the history and diversity of Malaysia Truly Asia
Kuala Lumpur — Malaysia is a fascinating country for a history buff. Its Travel & Tourism sector is rooted in this history, especially the contemporary period dating back to British colonisation, the influx of migrants from China and India, and how the combination of those factors influenced the political, social and economic development of a Muslim-majority country.
Last week, at the Global Travel Meet in KL, I enjoyed a Walking Tour through some of the historic sites, taking in the culinary, cultural, social and ethnic diversity reflected in the tourism marketing slogan “Malaysia Truly Asia”. The products and services spawned by this diversity are catering perfectly to the growing legions of visitors from China, India, ASEAN and the Islamic countries.
The Walking Tour experience is best reflected in these images. I would strongly recommend it as a must-do for all visitors to Malaysia as they join the country in marking 2026 Visit Malaysia Year.
