Two decades after Oklahoma City bombing, the crime still sears workers – The Washington Post

Sunday marked the 20th anniversary of the bombing of the Alfred P. Murrah Federal Building in Oklahoma City.

The crime still sears federal employees.

Timothy McVeigh, an Army veteran of Operation Desert Storm, was executed for what the FBI called “the worst act of homegrown terrorism in the nation’s history.” Terry Nichols, an Army buddy, will die in prison for his role in the attack.

That act took the lives of 168 people, including scores of federal employees and their children who were in the building’s day-care center. There is no doubt that McVeigh targeted U.S. government workers.
